Indica vs. Sativa vs. Hybrid: A Plain-English Guide
The classic three-way split is a useful starting point — but it's not the whole story. Here is how to think about it.
The quick answer
Indica, sativa, and hybrid are useful general labels but are oversimplified. Each plant's actual character is driven by a combination of genetics, cannabinoid content, and terpene profile.
Indica
Historically associated with relaxed, late-evening experiences. Our indicas (like Midnight Kush and Plum Punch) tend to lean grape, earth, and lavender.
Sativa
Associated with brighter, conversational, daytime-leaning experiences. Citrus Haze and Pineapple Breeze are good examples.
Hybrid
A blend of the two, sometimes balanced, sometimes tipped toward one side. Blue Horizon and Wedding Cake are two well-known examples.
What matters more
Two "sativas" from different growers can feel quite different because of terpene makeup and cannabinoid ratios. Pay attention to the dominant terpenes on each product page — they're often a better predictor of character than the category label alone.
