How to Choose Flower: A Buying Guide for Adults
Category, terpenes, potency, bud structure, and freshness — what actually matters when you pick a jar.
Pick a mood, not a number
Start by choosing the category that matches the evening you want: brighter (sativa), balanced (hybrid), or unhurried (indica). Don't over-index on THC percentage — a 22% flower with great terpenes will usually satisfy more than a 30% flower without character.
Read the terpene panel
Terpenes drive aroma and much of the felt character. Cross-reference our Terpenes Guide and match strain aromas to what you enjoy.
Check freshness
Our jars carry a cure date on the label. Flower is best within six months of cure; it remains enjoyable well beyond that when properly stored.
Structure and trim
Well-trimmed buds burn more evenly than shake or poorly trimmed material. If a vendor won't show you a close-up of the actual flower, be cautious.
Accessories that help
A four-piece grinder dramatically improves joint consistency; a quality glass piece delivers a cooler draw. See our Accessories category.
